Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

27 May 2021I walked this route in both directions in late May 2021. It is all passable but included a lot of very waterlogged and muddy field walking (unsurprisingly given the amount of rain we had in that month). It requires careful map reading and was made a great deal easier by using GPS to follow the route. There are no clear paths across many of the fields, so you could spend a lot of time looking for stiles without it. There is a farm as you approach Caverswall from Longton where they do their best to hide the route through (no signs, an unmarked wooden gate in a fence) and divert you onto a less desirable muddy track but it is not obstructed and is accurately mapped here. Trust the map and GPS and you'll be fine.
