Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

12 Apr 2022I walked this route from Welshpool to LLanfyllin. The route was good in many parts but was not clearly posted resulting in me struggling to find the correct way on several occasions. There were several sections where fences had been built by farmers across the route and there was no way around them. I had to climb over barbed wire fences or corrugated iron panels on several occasions (photo 1). Some parts of the route looked like they had rarely been used by the public and were overgrown. A better route from Welshpool to Meifod would be along Glyndwr's Way. It is a little longer than this route but well marked and easy to follow even without a map. Then from Meifod to Llanfyllin, I would recommend sticking to the roads and lanes. Again slightly longer but quicker (as I discovered when walking in the opposite direction).
