Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

11 May 2021A thoroughly enjoyable route to walk. A tiny unnecessary detour starts the journey from Lichfield going along the busy Birmingham Road rather than following the pavement straight up from the station (this might be a product of automation when the meeting points changed). The route sensibly follows the Heart of England Way via a public footpath, a residential road then the Tamworth Road (A51) into the countryside south of Lichfield. A beautifully straight track takes you over the hills as far as Knox's Grave Lane which then takes you to Hopwas where you cross the Tame and follow the pavement along the Lichfield Road straight into the heart of Tamworth. This route is safe, direct, offroad and beautiful. To make the slight improvement needed at the start I will submit a new version but I see no reason not to recommend this version to the Slow Ways network!.
