Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

25 Jan 2022Very straightforward route along the side of the wide Lune Valley where it cross-crosses the old railway line. A good mixture of footpaths across fields and small and quiet country lanes. Footpaths are mostly well signposted and obvious. Only takes a little bit of close map work through some of the farms where it's not as obvious where it picks up.
In terms of accessibility this should be easily manageable by a competent walker. A couple of small becks to cross and some tight stone 'styles' to wiggle through (in the dry stone walls) but the paths and gates/styles seem well used and maintained.
NB - the route goes through several farms with working dogs (not always the friendliest) and through many fields with livestock where dogs should be kept under tight control - esp during lambing season.
