Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

08 Feb 2023I walked this from Currie to Kirknewton. A good and useful route.
The Glenbrook has no pavement and a few 90-degree bends, so a little caution is required. Also the very short section on the Lang Whang (A70) often has drivers going quite fast on the long straight, so a lot of caution is required.
The non-road sections were great. The path is indistinct when you leave Boll O' Bere towards Kaimes Wood, so just aim for the right hand side of the woods in front of you. (the path is obvious coming the other way)
Near the end, when you turn off the road to go over the fields to Kirknewton you come to a high fence. Keep going round the field up the hill and you can easily cross at the gate, and you now see the path into Kirknewton. (also obvious coming the other way).

30 Jan 2022This was a good walk. Paths through fields past Kaimes Hill and then the road route down into Balerno is quiet and enjoyable to walk with a nice finish along the Water of Leith.
