Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

11 May 2024This is an interesting route which I walked east to west. It uses field paths, bridleways and short stretches of quiet lanes. Passing close by an ancient (stone age?) settlement was an unexpected and added bonus. But navigation was not easy.
However it receives only three stars for the following reasons.
Way markings were often unclear or missing.
Many paths were overgrown or boggy, resulting in difficulties finding the way across some fields.
Boundary crossings (stiles, gates, etc) tended to be rather dilapidated and in need of some maintenance (repairs to steps or pruning back bushes).
A large pond completely blocked one lane (due to an obstructed drain).
There were a couple of tricky road crossings and I encountered frisky/curious young cattle in several fields, which could be unnerving if you have a dog or young children with you.
There were a few places where alternative routes might have been more direct but I didn't walk these today so don't know if they would be an improvement.
Refreshments are available at The Plough Inn, Lupton and Crooklands Hotel.
