Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

16 Mar 2024A good route mainly on well marked footpaths and over varied terrain. Some of the moorland sections are less well marked or obvious, so careful navigation is needed, and after heavy period of rain quite a lot of the more used paths were particularly muddy.
A couple of the stiles are in a poorer condition but passable with care.
The views over Nidderdale are great and the wildlife is fantastic. There aren't many options for a stop on the main route, but some available from short detours.

10 Jun 2021A long and varied walk, over moorland, meadows and fields. Route finding is straightforward, especially once you're on the Six Dales Trail which is well signposted. There is very little road walking. It's an absolute must for fans of lapwings as there are many along the route.
Negatives - there are some boggy stretches and some difficult to negotiate stiles. It *is* a long route, it's listed as 15 miles, but I recorded it on the OS Maps app and it reported 15.85 miles.
There are a couple of cow fields, but they gave me no problem.
