09 Nov 2022 (edited 10 Nov 2022)Walked from Arnold to Hucknall. This is a good, straightforward and direct route, mostly on surfaced paths with a only couple of low metal stiles on the path from Redhill to Bestwood Park. There are also steps from the bridge down to the Hucknall station meeting point, but these can be avoided by a small detour to the west.
Starting from Arnold, the route is the same as that used by KIMARN 3 until the edge of Bestwood Park, where we meet and join the Robin Hood Way. We cross the junction half left, and there is a choice of paths here - the right hand one has a better surface, the left hand one gets a little muddy when wet. They meet at another junction, where we follow the Robin Hood Way down to Alexandra Lodge and continue down the access road.
Note that the path where we leave this road to the right is further west than either this GPX or the official right of way as shown on the OS map - OpenStreetMap shows it correctly. I only noticed this because I was watching the OS app - the hedge is continuous up to that point so you can't go wrong. A short unsurfaced section crosses a field to join a tarmac path that leads to the Spinney, which we follow down to Moor Road. We go slightly left and cross the road to follow the track down to the Leen Valley country park. We follow the bridle path around the north side of the park and cross the Leen.
Just beyond the bridge we leave the Robin Hood Way to take the wide cycle track right through the wood, turning left at an obvious junction and following the path under the railway bridge onto Wigwam Lane, once the site of Hucknall colliery but now an industrial estate (notably Lincoln Green brewery). Wigwam Lane has a pavement which we follow up to Station Road, where we turn left and descend the steps to the meeting point at the station/tram terminal.

13 Mar 2022I walked this route on a Sunday, and even the parts alongside larger roads were very quiet. It is mostly on firm ground, although there were some muddy patches. The first half is very straightforward and easily accessible, with swing gates as well as kissing gates. However, in second half of the walk there are a couple of stiles and the ground becomes less even.
The only place that was slightly difficult to navigate was around Alexandra Lodges but, as most of the footpaths intersect, it is easy to get back on track without doubling back if you do go wrong. There are also public toilets at Alexandra Lodges, which is about halfway.
Overall it was a scenic walk with some nice stretches of woodland.

21 Jan 2022A route from Arnold to Hucknall crossing farmland and woodland. Most of the route is on firm gravel or tarmac route, except there are several stiles to cross in the farmland between Redhill and Bestwood Country Park, and three kissing gates with uneven and muddy surfaces in the three fields between Park Road and Bestwood.
