Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

20 Sep 2021Walked this delightful route from Hawes to Aysgarth on a beautiful September day whilst staying in Askrigg. Other than the start and finish the route is very flat, following a disused railway and the river. The route is very clear and well maintained and the scenery is stunning. The only reason this didn’t get 5 stars was because the last half mile or so was on a busy road with very little room at the edges to avoid the traffic. I would however certainly walk it again. There were numerous step stiles and squeeze stiles on the route which would preclude access to some, and some dogs. The route passes through Askrigg, around midway, which offers 3 pubs, a couple of shops and accommodation.
