Description

This is a alternative Harrogate to Harewood route, differing from Harhar One as follows:
1) In places where the paths on the ground diverge from mapped rights of way, this route shows a closer approximation to the paths.
2) It avoids following the A61 as much as possible. Firstly, by a longer detour via Easingcroft, which cuts out the 400m on the A61 lacking a footway, though it does use a longer section of back road. Secondly, it takes a footpath directly up from the A61-A659 junction, and then left into Harewood village. This also avoids a the barely extant footpath, though more direct, that runs up from the A61 a little further on

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Easy route finding, and aside from one on road section and two busy road crossings would be a 5 star route.

Nice through Harewood, with chances to see deer, then easy going along good footpaths and fields up to Kirkby Overblow. Nice pub option here. On towards Harrogate on more good footpaths with easy navigation passing a golf course and many big houses. A lovely view of the viaduct coming into Harrogate, and pleasant enough even through the suburbs of Harrogate.

Short stretch on quite a busy road to cross the river near Harewood, and some quite busy crossings between Harrogate and Kirkby Overblown. Otherwise a pretty route across rolling countryside, mostly across farmland and along quiet lanes.
Pub at Kirkby Overblown, if you want or need a refreshment stop.

Good easygoing paths throughout. Deer, viaduct and pub at Kirkby overblow highlights.
