Pretty perfect as a Slow Way given it’s direct, safe, always close to amenities (not hard in London) and easy to navigate. As others have said, the architecture near Hampstead is easy on the eye, and bustling Camden is fun to visit. A short walk showcasing the variety available to you in London.

I walked this during lunch, from Hampstead to Camden on a warm and sunny day.

From Hampstead (Heath) it first starts in the busy area with a lovely pub (photo #1), near the Royal Free, and then soon after that there is a lot of nice housing to go past. The brick pavement that was mentioned was great in the sunshine, and the Bauhaus inspired building (photo #2) was good to look at. There were other people taking photos too. The first section along the main road was a little tedious (photo #3, #4), but that soon improved once getting to Camden (photo #5, #6, #7), with a lot of people and shops (and parked cars) that made me slow down significantly. All in all, a good route.

I was expecting this route to be really boring, functional at best, just following main roads. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Soon after the start from Hampstead Heath Station and shops, I found myself passing a historic Bauhaus with a small museum. There was a lot of interesting and pleasant housing generally, including some apartments. One section had a brick pavement that looked nice but was a bit slippy in the wet weather.
The A502 was quieter than I was expecting in terms of vehicles, maybe because it was Saturday. There were brief views of some of the city skyscrapers.
Then - what are contrast! Suddenly, in a short distance, I had left the quiet, genteel Hampstead Heath to arrive in lively bustling Camden, very busy even in the pouring rain. It was quite fun and exciting with a crazy selection of zany shops and street decoration. I also got to spot a few Leslie Green underground stations with their dark red tiles.
A really fun and varied route!.

I walked this route from Camden Town. Right away, take in the hustle and bustle of Camden Market. The pavements can get crowded, but maybe someday soon it’ll be pedestrianised, I’m told! The route follows the main road almost all the way, but it’s been nicely traffic calmed, the pavements are wide, and the streets interesting and pleasant enough to walk along. There is a nice climb up to Hampstead Heath if you’re walking in that direction, so be prepared for not the flattest slow ways route out there! I found the route perfectly enjoyable, if not standout. A great way to go, and probably the way I’d prefer over hamcam two!.
