17 Jun 2023It's functional and direct but would I walk it again, not by choice. The traffic noise along the A34 blots out any potential enjoyment even when there are fields alongside. There are buildings and features of interest on the approach to Bloxwich.

10 May 2023 (edited 11 May 2023)Walked from Bloxwich to Great Wyrley. A good direct functional route, entirely on pavements. Easy but rather dull.
The route is very simple - from the meeting point in Bloxwich we follow the pavement of the A34. It is best to stay on the right (east) side because the west pavement disappears for a while beyond the junction with Turnberry Road. Once we are in Great Wyrley we need to find a place to cross - this is not normally difficult, and the way out to the meeting point outside Landywood station is also a simple pavement walk. The views are quite pleasant, with plenty of trees throughout.

25 Nov 2021A no-nonsense direct Slow Way with no offroad sections at all. Saying that, it was more enjoyable than I thought it would be. The first section is through residential Great Wyrley until it deposits you on to the A34 which you don't even leave to get to the Bloxwich meeting place. The pavement is reasonably wide and the road is situated on a plain so for long sections you can let your eyes wander to the sides. Unless you are particularly set on car and bus spotting (you have access to a number of key routes from this Slow Way) you can look at the signs, enticing drivers to stop with promises of fresh farm produce, cafes or car washes. Having left Great Wyrley, you are in open countryside with farmland to either side and the high flats of Bloxwich and Walsall ahead. I found myself entering a meditative state, being awoken from this by the discovery of a derelict house, a remnant of the days when the traffic along this road would have been much slower, slowly being overgrown by a tree. Not long after the sign tells you that you've left Staffordshire to enter Walsall MBC and therefore the Black Country you enter the affluent suburbs of Bloxwich (which I hadn't previously known existed). In no time you've crossed the Lichfield Road and are at the Bloxwich Meeting Place. It's safe, direct, very accessible, has no steps but has no offroad sections either (all the green spaces run perpendicular to the route). I actually rather enjoyed it.
