Description

This route largely follows FroBra three, with a minor tweak between Oldford and Beckington. It cuts out the challenging section behind the Creamery, which can get seriously overgrown. Replaced by the quiet Lullington Lane to the Weir, then rejoining the MMacmillan Way

This is a well sign posted route along some roads but mainly public footpaths.
It’s very picturesque, taking you through villages, fields and woodland.
The roads are in the main quiet village roads, but you do have to cross the A36 as you leave Beckington.
At this time of year some of the footpaths were muddy and slippery, but passable. There are some elevations, including steps at Freshford that could be a challenge.
There are cafe stops along the way, Mes Amis in Beckington or Rode post office, a good halfway point, both have good coffee! Iford cafe which is about 3/4 of the way, is not open until April.
This is a walk I will definitely do again and recommend to others. If you don’t want to walk back, the Weymouth train stops at Frome!
I have given it 4*s. I didn’t give it 5*s because of the steps which might mean access issues for some walkers and the need to cross over the A36 and climb over the crash barrier to pick up the footpath which might be an access issue and can be challenging at busy times.

Great walk, easy route to follow. Some hills and styles but lovely views as well. Muddy in parts at this time of year. Coffee shops and pubs along the way.

A tweak to FroBra three, which cuts out a challenging section behind the Creamery, and some difficult stiles. Replaced with quiet lane, pretty Weir and river. Whats not to like.
Care needs to be taken walking on the 150 metre length of A366 between F H Castle and the t junction. This is busy, but there is generally a verge.
