27 Jun 2024I walked from Filey to Bridlington on a sunny day.
From the station past shops and down a steep road to the sea front. There is a steep staircase at the end of the promenade up onto the cliffs. From there there is a mix of narrow paths through scrubby woods, field edges and open paths with stunning views There's a new housing development (with Pub). Part of the path up to the trig point and Bempton cliffs is very steep 100%+, there are steps kicked into the turf by boots, I didn't have to scramble, but in very wet or windy weather I may have had to. You are rewarded by panoramic views and wheeling seabirds in the sky. The RSPB site at Bempton was lovely and the twitchers are happy to point out all the different birds. Gannets, razorbills, puffins and fulmars.
Then inland along wide farm tracks to the outskirts of Bempton village (this 'kink' avoids a narrow vergeless road and also goes past a tea shop) then a short stretch of road walking along quiet roads with wide verges. Pinfold Lane is a farm track, long and straight, taking you to the outskirts of Bridlington then urban streets past the priory to the station.
A stunning walk through a variety of East Riding countryside, steep in places. Open to the elements, and probably muddy in winter. Take your binoculars.
