Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

21 Mar 2023I walked it from Waltham Cross to Enfield Town. This a decent Slow Way. Much of teh route is through parks and along the New River. Along the river was a little slippery when I walked it (but it had been sleeting that morning!). The steps down from Bullsmoor Lane are very narrow and not very well cared for - there is potentially a non-step route into the park a little further east of these steps.

26 Feb 2023I followed this route from Enfield Town to Waltham Cross after doing the Wood Green to Enfield Two Slow Route.
This route continues along the New River Path for a time, before turning along Turkey Brook then going through a cemetery. This was rather poignant as a lot of fresh graves are right alongside the path. After that the route turns North and through another green space alongside some allotments, before going through some residential streets the then above the Holmsedale Tunnel over the M25. From there it's just a short hop and several road crossings to Waltham Cross station.
The route definitely maximises green space, would do again.

17 Oct 2022Walked Waltham Cross to Enfield. It’s a good and fairly direct route which makes the most of the available green spaces and footpaths, including the New River path.
There are steps to the bridge crossing of the A10, and kissing gates on this route.
I had a decent lunch at a kebab restaurant in Waltham Cross, conveniently placed on the route.
Then probably the best available crossing of the M25 anywhere, it is buried in a tunnel with a park on top.
The route passes Turkey Street station for an easy drop-out. There is an interesting area where peoples’ memories of the old village are recorded on stones.
Eventually I came to the New River and this provided a gentle waterside path south to Enfield. It doesn’t go all the way though, there is a fair bit of residential street at the Enfield end, but it’s all quite pleasant.
