Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Hiking Historian
01 Jul 2023What already promised to be a long and arduous route was made even more difficult by a section that, on the ground, does not correspond to what's on the ground at all.
Most of the route follows the Cross Britain Way/Mary Jones Walk, but the one section that doesn't, between the farms of Llechwedd-Fwyalchen and Cefn-Gwyn, near Rhosdylluan, is hampered right from the off.
First, you climb the hill from the main track and, via a few gates, approach Llechwedd-Fwyalchen. The route (and footpath on OS and ROW maps) is supposed to follow hedges and a brook NNE to the river, but there is no route. And even if there was, the drop to the Afon Dwrnudon is steep and overgrown, with no way over the often fast stream.
Best to scrap this section altogether.
I've posted an alternative that uses the CBW/MJW in almost its entirety, the best option for this route.
