The mapped route involves main footpaths beside well used roads: I started at the metro stop at Didsbury Village, walked along School Lane, then along Parrs Wood Road (slight incline/decline as road goes over railway tracks), to join the main Wilmslow Road and junction with the A34 Kingsway. The mapped route uses a bridge to cross Kingsway, but this is a stepped access up and down, and not really accessible for those in a wheelchair, or who have vertigo (me,), so I crossed up by Tesco (although today the crossing was inaccessible, but there are other crossing points around there). Pathways so far were in good condition, dropped kerbs at crossings, although due to recent weather many puddles and branches on the paths. Once across the A34, and past the Parrs Wood Complex, it is a straight road down to Cheadle, across the Mersey river and another slight incline/decline over the railway tracks and motorway. This is a shared walking/cycling path and quite wide - I have seen it blocked by pavement parking when sports events are on the fields. You go past the entrance to a local Garden Centre and pub on the right, and Abney Hall on the left. At the end of this road (Manchester Rd), an accessible crossing point to turn right onto Cheadle High Street and local shops.
Alternatives I might use: On School Lane, for a more accessible pathway, don’t turn right onto Parrs Wood Road - continue straight across and continue with School Lane until you get to the A34, then turn right along wider paths and the Parrs Wood crossroads to cross over to the complex.

Less accessible and away from cars for a bit: From the start at Didsbury Village tram stop, it is possible to walk down William St, then Olive Shapley Ave to its end, cross over the tram tracks, and follow the footpath that runs alongside the tracks, and once you reach the East Didsbury station, exit at the crossroads by the Parrs Wood complex and continue with the walk from there.

The route felt accessible (especially if you avoid the footbridge), safe, accurate, some nice scenery on Manchester Road, but it is a busy area for traffic, so not a walk if you want peace, especially the bit over the motorway! There are also lots of public transport options - tram, buses, and a nice walk along the Mersey towards Stockport accessible from bridge over the Mersey near Parrs Wood (just past the car park entrance).
