13 Nov 2022Hannah (from Slow Ways) and I thought we'd double check this route and, if it didn't work, make a new one.
We came it this from Desford, so the opposite direction to Jess who already reviewed this route.
The path was not overgrown for us and we didn't face the same challenges as Jess, but we think the route makes use of a track which is not marked as a right of way. This track connects Leicester Lane to the footpath behind (to the south of) Bosworth Community School. Someone local might know if there is permissive access on this track.
I've shared Deslei Two which addresses this issue and is similar to this route going through Leicester.
Someone local may well know of an even better Deslei route!.

13 Nov 2022Shame about the bit of track that's not footpath or other access (the stretch is uploaded as a screen grab). We'd not have known if we'd not had the OS paid app, and it feels unlikely it'd be contested by anyone as it runs straight from a well-used footpath through turnip fields to the main road. But it's not a footpath. We could have followed the path on east to the road and doubled back, but there's no pavement on this stretch, so we designed Deslei two a little further to the south for this section, and it was a great walk. A little longer but that was no hardship as it was nice to walk!.

05 Jun 2021I walked from Leicester to Desford but was unable to walk the final mile or so because the path is so overgrown and there's no clear route between fields. This route also goes past a slaughter house which is pretty unpleasant.
There are some very secluded paths on this route that I wasn't comfortable walking on my own.
But also some beautiful open fields and views over Leicestershire.
