17 Feb 2026Its a steep walk up to Penbegwyn from Crynant and steeper down. Then its a sudden change of pace walking along the old canal.
The canal is not in use but is still charming with all of its various shaped locks.
Not so charming is the constant sound of traffic on the A465. Also just before Glyn Neath some total idiot had fly tipped a ton of rubbish over the bridge and some of it was heading downstream.
I put some music on to drown out the A465. I have created Crygly2 which has a slightly bigger and longer climb but is a much quieter route through the forest.
