Strider
16 Sep 2024 (edited 21 Sep 2024)I walked from Litherland to Crosby.
About 50% urban pavement walking and 50% parkland.
Long straight suburban roads with reasonable pavements, not very exciting, but direct and easy to navigate.
In the middle, an open scrubby park. Beautiful meadows with lots of colourfulflowers, even in mid September.
To exit, there is a short stretch of old grit path (the rest is tarmac), might be difficult for buggies and ordinary wheelchairs, off road ones will cope.
I agree with previous reviewer that the Crosby node is in an odd place, shops, cafés and benches in a car free precinct 100m away in Liverpool Road.
Good, direct, easy to navigate, pleasant slowway between two urban centres. Good use of green space.
Hiking Historian
03 Apr 2022Almost a fully-accessible route, with a single barrier excluding larger mobility scooters, but otherwise good for all foot, bicycle and most wheelchair users.
An odd place to have the node for Crosby (adjacent to a car park on the bypass, away from bus stops and a long way from the nearest station), but good for the shops. Route is well-paved with ramps when in residential areas, and when in Rimrose Valley, there is a short section of grass and stone footpath, and then tarmac. The footpath alongside the railway too is tarmac, following a short stretch of boardwalk.
A nice short route, mostly urban but with a nice long walk through a country park.
