Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

23 Feb 2022On a dry summer's day this would no doubt be a very nice walk, albeit one with a few boggy patches. There is a serious lack of waymarking in places, when not on the Calderdale Way which the route follows for some of its way, and several missing stiles and broken gates.
On a cold wintry day after lots of rain it is a very boggy walk with one path becoming a torrent and virtually unpassable without wellies (see photo). Even the one bench which might offer a rest on the route leans at a precarious 45degree angle...
The views however make it well worth while even so, and seldom can the warmth of a pub with good beer and food have been more timely or welcomed than the Alma Inn, about half way along the route in Cottonstones!.
