Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

08 Jan 2024Four of us and a dog walked this in the first week of January. This is generally a really nice walk through beautiful countryside with some great views. I would do it again and I'd recommend it to people, with a few caveats. Towards the beginning the route tries to take you through a farm with some pretty furious and scary farm dogs. We turned back and found another footpath which took us the same way. We had a couple of instances of the route being a little inaccurate but it didn't take long for us to find the right footpath.
The whole way the footpaths and stiles are pretty poorly maintained, particularly towards the end. Someone has dumped and set fire to a huge pile of rubbish on the footpath. And at the very end we had to fight our way through head-high brambles. If it was summer we wouldn't have been able to get through.
We got some good hot chocolates and chips in the Stationbrew cafe in Bacup at the end which is also dog friendly.
With a couple of tweaks to the route and the footpaths better maintained, this would easily be 5*.
