Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Lovely walk starting in the impossibly quaint Clifton Upon Teme. Walking only - quite a few stiles and narrow, slippery riverside section. Easy to navigate.
Starts off going through the play area in the park and across a field to the first of many stiles. When you reach Ayngstree Farmhouse after a long trudge down a driveway you cross a cattle grid and the path seems to vanish. But you actually go through the house garden to a gate on the left. The next field was full of potatoes and the path ploughed - so heavy walking...
Some very over-grown sections and a slippery path take you to a riverside section.
Turning away from the river at a pumping station a concrete road takes you to Whitbourne. I was lucky and the church was unlocked for toilets and water refills!
Past lots of pheasant pens to join the A44. This is a busy A road with no pavements - so lots of care, facing oncoming traffic with frequent hops onto a grass bank. Only reason I have given this route a 4 rather than a five.
Across the footbridge to The Talbot Inn for the best Ploughmans Lunch and pint of Robinson's cider I have ever had.
Time taken 2:40hrs
NB after lunch I continued with the Nightwick to Malvern route.

Route is blocked by a fallen tree so had to turn back. Route from Clifton is manageable although had to go round crops rather than through them to Woodmanton Farm. From the Tedney Lane after the orchard there is a footpath across from the lane to the wood down towards the river which is fine at first but then just at the river there is a tree down and couldn’t get through as on the river bank. Alternative would be to follow lane into Whitbourne. May try from other end another time.
