Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

A lovely coastal path route which opens up onto the beach in a few locations. The best are Ladye Bay and Black Nore. It get's tight in places but nothing to worry about. Fab views along the way!.

Lovely route, fairly well maintained, narrow in places with some uneven ground but generally easy.

Excellent views throughout although the path is rough in places and quite close to a steep drop occasionally. Currently (March 2022) a short diversion up to the road and back at Sandbanks (Walton Bay) because of a broken bridge. Toilets and refreshments at Lake Road and in Portishead town centre.

A highly enjoyable coastal route starting from the promenade of the Victorian seaside town of Clevedon. It uses the paved Poet’s Walk initially, followed by the more rugged but safe coast path with plenty of views over the Severn Estuary. Towards Portishead the route passes some little hidden stony bays, and the way into town is through green spaces with further open views.

No stiles or gates but expect plenty of uneven undulating ground, a narrow path in places and the odd step. The only downside is a couple of short sections with encroaching vegetation including some feisty bracken (at head height in the summer) which you may have to push through without being able to see much, although the path underfoot is still fine. I’d give this walk five stars if it was cleared back a bit!

I’d definitely do this one again and would recommend it to others. It is also worth noting that this stretch of path has been approved as part of the developing England Coast Path, and is thus likely to become a well-maintained route in the not too distant future.

Lovely views over the Severn estuary. Narrow path in parts, and vegetated but passable in late July.
