07 Aug 2023An enjoyable short walk. Not direct, but does take in the delightful shared paths through Waltham Marsh. The rail line is crossed twice. With an automated crossing or footbridge at Cheshunt Junction and with a footbridge (many steps) at Marsh Bridge. The walks to and from the town centre at both ends is along a paved road.

13 Nov 2022Walked Waltham Cross to Cheshunt, late afternoon in Autumn.
I really enjoyed this route, it’s a little indirect but it goes through the River Lee Country Park which makes it a pleasant alternative to the busy local roads.
There is a bridge across the railway line with a lot of steps; and the middle section through the country park is unlit at night.
All paths have good surfaces.
Refreshments at Cheshunt. The route passes Cheshunt station, and you can jump straight onto the next route north towards Hoddesden without going all the way into Cheshunt town centre.

30 Jun 2022I walked from Cheshunt to Waltham Cross.
There is a short busy road out of Cheshunt leading to an automated railway crossing with a footbridge 'bypass'. It seems a busy crossing so you may need to wait to wheel across. Very quickly into the Lee Valley Park along well made paths. Nature reserves, grassland, artworks and woods make it a nice walk. At the end of the park you have to get back across the rail line. There is a tall footbridge with many steps. There is also a hut where a notice says there is a crossing keeper who can open the gates, this was a strike day so it was closed, No opening times posted. More suburban walking to Waltham Cross train station.
The Lee Valley is the highlight of this short walk.
If you could navigate the southern rail crossing then wheels are possible. The Office of Rail and Road control these crossings- [email protected] -to find out about level crossings.

09 Jul 2022For an alternative wheelchair friendly route see the reviews for Potche and/or Potwal. The western sections meet making a pleasant Cheswal alternative.

28 Jan 2022The route walks on road pavement at either end of the journey and is in good condition. The middle section through Lee Valley Regional Park takes only the paved paths and walks by some nice lakes and man made ornaments/sculptures. There are two train stations, Waltham Cross at the end of the route in South and Cheshunt Station 15 mins from the end in the North.
The park will be unlit at night and there is a railway crossing at either end (large stair case in the South at ///pots.exchanges.text, TL 365 010 and a level crossing or stairs in the North at ///alarm.mini.format, TL 366 023).
I think it's a nice short walk (approx 45 - 50 mins) and the highlight being the wonderful Lee Valley area, perfect for an easy stroll, for the kids or dog walking. If you have time, there is lot's more to see in Lee Valley Regional Park so I would recommend exploring more to the East including the Olympic White Water Centre, which has public access.
