Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

01 Sep 2023A problematic route for a few reasons. It starts and ends well, especially with the walk through Tawd Valley, but the middle is marred by problems.
First, on leaving Burscough, the route follows the unpaved Flax Lane, which has many blind corners and quite commonly used by motorists. The paved section through Lathom is pleasant enough, albeit on an often busy road. But, once on Spa Lane, at a junction near Cock Farm, it once more becomes unpaved, and almost dangerous at times. The method of escape, a footpath, seemingly no longer exists, being very overgrown and inaccessible; the other end of it, once found, is boggy and also shows no signs of proceeding further. And, once in the woods of Tawd Valley, the mapping is wildly inaccurate.
Some nice sections, but currently not feasible as a Slow Way.
