Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

15 Mar 2024 (edited 17 Mar 2024)Short, urban roadside walk connecting two village high streets with a bit of local park greenery to look into on the way. Does the job getting from A to B. This is an interesting, changing dockside industrial area where a renewable hydrogen home heating network is soon to be rolled out to 300 local homes. The calorific tatty scone and sriracha sauce-based butty made by the lively, friendly crew of women at the busy Crumbs takeaway kept us going for a lot of miles of further walking.

09 Oct 2023Review of Slow Ways route Bucmet one (Buckhaven to Methil)
I walked this route (in reverse) as part of a longer route from Leven to Dysart. The Methil to Buckhaven section is short (2km) and very simple, being entirely along pavements next to a single street (Wellesley Road). As before, I found it impossible to say where Methil ended and Buckhaven began. Having said that, the authorities in Buckhaven (possibly the local history society) have done a wonderful job, providing a huge amount of information about the town on signposts displayed along the route. I was fascinated by these and learned a lot (the story of Globe Orchard was particularly interesting). All too soon, the route ended at a little park on the corner of Church Street.
