Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

28 Oct 2023I walked this with David Sanderson and I have little to add to his comprehensive review. It is a direct, safe, easy, urban walk. Although it is not the most attractively scenic walk in the Slow Ways catalogue it probably beats most in terms of the range of food and travel facilities along its route. The two pubs mentioned in David's review certainly make it a 5* walk!!.

21 Oct 2023Reviewed from Brierley Hill to Halesowen on a very rainy day. The highest marks are scored for accessibility (no steps or stiles) and directness. There are numerous pubs, shops and takeaways throughout, to pick up supplies or stop. Public transport is very well connected with bus links to and from Birmingham throughout, and Cradley Heath Railway Station at halfway (trains to Worcester and Birmingham). Safety wise, it's pretty well all pavement walking but has short sections along Two Woods Lane and the very first section of Hawne Lane where there is no pavement, and road walking is needed. It was so wet that I was unable to take any pictures beyond crossing the swollen River Stour (the border between Sandwell and Dudley). Approaching the end, we dried off at first the Edward VII and then the Coach and Horses on Stourbridge Road. Both pubs thoroughly recommended for the beers and food, the warmth of their welcome and the warmth of their open fires!.
