Description

This route aims at following shorter but still relatively pleasant paths between Bracknell and Ascot then Braasc one. The final stretch along London Road in Ascot is rather noisy so the route suggests a minor diversion via Englemere Pond Nature Reserve

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

This route leads through a maximum number of parks and accessible woods between Bracknell and Ascot. It therefore avoids most noisy roads in the area. It is not as direct as the shortest path that would be just alongside a busy London Road but the diversion is for a purpose.

Probably the only spots which might be a bit dangerous are crossings near Long Hill roundabout and then in Ascot at the War Horse Memorial roundabout.

I walk along this route whenever I need to get from Bracknell to Ascot on foot.

Bracknell to Ascot (Braasc 2) review.

The route out of Bracknell passes colourful underpass murals (Photo 1) and a lane alongside the railway.

A short urban walk has a break point at The Royal Oak (Photo 2).

The Slow Way makes good use of footpaths through Lily Hill Park (Photo 3) and via woods by Heathfield School (Photo 4); to reach the A329 and a break point at The Royal Foresters.

The pavement walk into Ascot is along the A329. There's a welcome diversion to visit the Englemere Pond Nature Reserve (Photos 5 & 6).
