07 Mar 2022Perfectly adequate as a Slow Way journey between towns but not a walk I would choose to do again. Roadside pavements, a bit of cross field work and a very good wide cycle track along the course of the Derby canal. Perhaps I'm being mean offering just 4 stars, I'm not an urban walker.

31 Dec 2021A good route between Sandiacre and Borrowash with a mix of roads, fields, and ex-canal cycle paths. A more direct on-road route is available by just staying on the Derby Road but where's the fun in that? If you want a little more field and less road, you can do the Risley section on a footpath that runs parallel to the route – join it at the top of the hill on Rushy lane (if coming from Sandiacre) or opposite the Risley Park Pub (if coming from Borrowash).

30 Nov 202129/11/21 - THIS ROUTE HAS RE-OPENED.
Now that the canal has been repaired and reopened, Borsan One becomes the better route between Borrowash and Sandiacre. Although it has pavement walking at either end, these paths are wide and safe to walk on. The canal paths and fields in the middle are clear and well tended.
As expected, good addition to the network now that the restoration work has been completed.

23 Jun 2021 (edited 10 Dec 2021)THIS RATING APPLIES UNTIL AUGUST 2021.
A good route that has been temporarily blocked for Canal reconstruction (to be reopened 31/07/21). I will survey the second half once reopened but Borsan_2 can be used in the meantime.
EDIT 9/12/21: THIS ROUTE HAS BEEN REOPENED.
