Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

06 Jan 2024 (edited 11 Jan 2024)I walked this route from Sandiacre to Borrowash on a rainy day when I didn't fancy walking over waterlogged, boggy arable fields.
I started along the canal at Sandiacre (heading to Long Eaton), before crossing a canal bridge to follow the route of the old Derby & Sandiacre canal (mostly filled in these days but the Friends of the canal have heady dreams).
There is one busy road that needs crossing (near the hotel close to the A52), but other than that I walked along clearly signed footpaths and on the Sustrans route 6.
If you find the footpath behinds the houses at Breaston too boggy, you can walk parallel on the road the other side of said houses, not as nice but drier.
On the edge of Draycott I stopped at the excellent Canal Cottage cafe for a coffee and cake, before continuing onto Borrowash by walking under the road ahead via a small canal bridge and taking a few fields (clearly marked) into Borrowash.
