Description
This route is the same as Batfro one and two, other than climbing the serious slope from the cycle track up to Combe Down, this route takes in the Two Tunnels. It is a more gentle ascent. The tunnels which total over a mile long, are lit to a very dim level, with ethereal music. If you are concerned of the dark, avoid this route. If however you want a very unusual experience this is the route for you. I recorded the route as 0.50 mi longer than Batfro two

02 Dec 2023A good route with a mix of fieldy footpaths, disused railways and of course the unique two tunnels. Recommended.

17 Apr 2023 (edited 21 Apr 2023)I created this route as an alternative to Batfro one and two. It is identical to Batfro two other than the section coming from Frome direction, from just before the tunnel entrance. This route takes you through the Two Tunnels which at over 1 mi in length is definitely an experience. The longer of the tunnels has ethereal music playing in very subdued lighting. From the second tunnel the route drops down onto Bear Flat and Holloway into Bath. The photo taken within the tunnel is taken without flash. I would suggest walkers either carry a small torch or wear something hi viz to ensure cyclists can see you. This change over Batfro 2 cuts out 300' of ascent with sets of steps ( circa 100 ), but extends the walk by 0.60 mi.
