Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

03 Apr 2022Good route - walked it Aylesbury to Tring on a frosty April morning. Mostly flat with a couple of slight ascents at the Tring end. Canal towpath good at Aylesbury but gets muddier and narrower the further you go along. Steps and gates to contend with.

10 Feb 2022Tring is an interesting town to start the walk from
Pleasant flattish walk with just 1 short ascent as you leave Tring
Not suitable for wheeled vehicles due to stiles and a footbridge.
1 busy road to cross with very limited visibility
Canal towpath can be muddy after a period of rain. Very flat and not many views. The last few km are within the town boundary so alongside housing areas.

22 Aug 2021We did this route on Friday, leaving the canal and entering Tring via Drayton Beauchamp. Coming out at Icknield Way. Then returned to Aylesbury via main road through Aston Clinton. A lovely quiet walk along the canal, I think in wet weather a small area may be flooded, or very clay under foot. From Aylesbury to Aston Clinton the route has a new very good footpath. After this it narrows. A Noisy route along main road on return, but at Aston Clinton, Cafe in the Park is a good stop for a Beer or Coffee and snacks. Would do this again, maybe onto Marsworth.
Some parts along the canal, would not be good for wheelchair users.
Overall a lovely walk. Lots of people fishing, and a few bikes using the path too.
