Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

25 Jul 2023Leaving the town of Auchtermuchty, head east along the pavements on Cupar Rd until reaching Bow Rd. Go down this road and continue along a farm track after the tarmac ends following a sign on the lamppost
(see Pic1)
Pleasant flat farm track with a few dog walkers takes you south through Plains farm and into the Eastern edge of the village of Dunshalt. Turn left to follow a moderately busy but flat backroad eastward for a couple of miles before a faded signpost directs you to Kilwhiss on the left.
(see Pic2)
After half a mile on a straight grassy track you cross a refurbished stone bridge, and then the community of Easter Kilwhiss on your right before coming to an overgrown sign at a road junction indicating you are on a cycleroute
(see Pic3)
Turn right here and follow the tarmac road almost until Charlottetown, but turn right into the woods at an obvious entry point and follow the avenue south. After a short while take a left at a junction in the woods and head East again until you come out on the B-Road. Cross this road and follow the sign marked Ladybank by Loftybank.
(see Pic4)
This is a good path with a wood on one side and fields to the left. At the end of the path though is the busy A92 which has to be crossed.
Once negotiated you come to Loftybank and the outskirts of Ladybank. Follow the pavement into town past a pleasant park on the left until you come to a junction with a signpost for the golf course which you don’t take, instead bear right, where an extremely fade sign points to the station which you reach half a mile later at the end of the route.
Overall a very flat route with some nice farm and woodland tracks linked by back roads. The section along the road east of Dunshalt is quite busy without pavements and lasts longer that you would wish and the road crossing of the A92 is very busy and requires care. The section to Easter Kilwhiss is relatively rough going but otherwise the surfaces are good and flat There are no refreshment stops on the route but several pubs and cafes in Ladybank (although they were not open on a Monday afternoon).
