Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

10 Jun 2021This is a good walk, great views but there are some problems with the route as given.
1 Quite soon after the start, just at the sewage works, there is a large stream that needs crossing. We had to go off the route for a little way to find somewhere we could cross, and then get back to the route; a bit further along the track was badly flooded and was difficult to negotiate. It might be possible to start the route from Haughton Park and avoid this.
2 At Bogmore the route shows a left turn onto a track, this is overgrown, continue straight and take the next left and you will rejoin the route (easily seen in the OS map)
3 Right towards the end of the route, about ½ km east from Pitmunie the track to Dameye has gone and been incorporated into the field. It would be ok to cross the field but there were cows in the field that day so we followed the stream to the left of the field and clambered over fences into Clyan’s Wood and then regained the route at Dameye.
Overall, I would say that all this made the route reasonably accurate, you need to be aware of access across fields and be prepared to scramble. Waterproof boots recommended.
Final note - the Grant Arms in Monymusk is currently closed. There is a small post office and shop but opening hours are limited I think.
