28 May 2026I actually walked AchInv Three, which I think is the better route. This route is the same except that at Laggan, this route continues along the quiet road on the west side of the canal, where AchInv Three swaps to the east side, which is off-road and allows access to the hostel and restaurant at Laggan. I could see the road across the valley some of the time, and saw the odd vehicle driving along it, and I was also able to look at it on Google Street View, so I feel pretty confident in verifying it.

16 Apr 2024 (edited 17 May 2026)This is a good route that mostly follows the Great Glen Way. It only deviates for to go along the northern bank of the River Garry in Invergarry, which is lovely.
We loved camping for the night half way along Loch Lochy, where you can see the photo that's been added.

Achinv One follows the old Great Glen Way, but works for SSE mean the Great Glen Way has moved to this new route - including a section which is not yet mapped by OS or OpenStreetMap.
