Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

22 Sep 2022Same route as Aberis1, but a more accurate map of the route.

20 Sep 2022Decent enough walk that starts off with a quick trip up a hill onto the canal. From here to the routes end point the walk is pretty flat.
Initially you follow the canal and get to enjoy being in the shadow of the surrounding hills; tempting though they are, enjoy the wildlife and scenery on the canal. A quick dip under a bridge and onto the final section of canal walk before heading into the first village.
The main road here is quiet quiet, with shops if refreshments are required. I got tempted by chips on the return trip!
Eventually the route takes you near a bypass that is pretty loud, hence the three stars only. Not too far left to get to Abercarn where it's quieter and a chance to sit down in the local cenotaph.
Does the job pretty directly. Not sure there's a prettier way with the hill and bypass on either side.

01 Jun 2022This is a good route that's easy to navigate. The section along the road is nothing as tranquil as the canal, but it's a solid route with lots to love about it.
Maybe someone (local?) can work out a route that's a bit further but cuts most of the walking alongside the road out? I'm sure there is another way.
