Existing problems reported with 786
- This review covers a part of this route, from Romsey to Wellow. There is a problem with access in this section. The route from Romsey centre to the A27 is very good, as is the route by footpath from Ryedown Lane to East Wellow. However, the middle section had been planned to go through a wood, Burnt Grove, from the A27 to Gardeners Lane, but this is private land, with private property signs and chained up gates. The alternative to this section is to continue walking along the A27 to Gardeners Lane, then go down Gardeners Lane until you rejoin the route. However, there are no footpaths at the side of the A27 or Gardeners Lane, and the verges are narrow in places. The traffic is fast on the A27. I would not recommend this route as a result. I have found an alternative route, via St Margaret's Church East Wellow, The Frenches, Squabb Wood, and the Test Way, which I'll submit. Reported 01 Jun 2021
