  • On Front Page and Journey Planner I can't display Settlements or Slow Ways. As Settlements are selected by default on Journey Planner I'm assuming this is a bug, not deliberate choice. Makes it difficult to plan routes if you are trying to help verify the network rather than just for using it! Routes often overlap or cross especially now multiple routes exist for so many Slow Ways, and where Settlements are dense. Experimented with using the lo-fi OS background, unselecting the route options, turning options off and on again, nothing helped. Works ok on individual Slow Way pages but they don't show Un vs Verified. Same on Route, Waylist, edit Route and edit Review but those maps don't show un vs. verified, so they wouldn't help so much for planning. Highlighted routes on Journey Planner are good but disappear when you move around or zoom, and once multiple routes are highlighted it stops helping much. Progress Map isn't fully up to date so like the Journey Planner it means opening other tabs and flicking back and forth. Luckily it works ok on Settlement pages which also show un vs verified but given that different colours, options, etc are visible on the different pages it takes quite a lot of experimenting to figure that out, probably too much for casual users to bother with. • I received a error code 500 (server error) whilst uploading this review. No photographs were uploaded and the review has uploaded twice. Reported 27 Jun 2022
  • Hi, I've just added a review of the Souhed one route which I walked on 21st November 2022. I actually walked a variation of the given walk as I feel it added to the pleasure of the walk (more 'off road') as it involved less busy road walking. However I was unsure whether this slight variation met the criteria for a new route or whether just adding the details to my review will be enough? I'd value your advice please as I'm new to reviewing- this is my second review having previously reviewed Eashed one (Eastleigh to Hedge End). Many thanks David B Reported 27 Nov 2022
  • I have submitted more than 80 reviews since January 2022 which have all disappeared this morning. 'My account - my reviews' shows that I have not submitted any reviews, but my dashboard still shows 89 completed. The last thing I did was to edit my review for Bolshi1 at about 11:00am this morning. Reported 01 Dec 2022
  • I think this review is also on the wrong route. It mentions going on Bowen Drive and past Kingswood House and they are both on WesCry 2 but not here. It's a bit confusing, especially as the writer then discusses a whole load of other roads/places, some of which might actually be on WesCry 1. I saw there is a flag on one of the reviews, so perhaps someone already noticed and adding the flag was the workaround to stop it counting. Reported 16 Sep 2023
  • Route shown as verified twice but only one reviewer. Worupt One Worcester - Upton upon Severn This was reviewed and verified for the first time on 01.02.2022 by Grifftinfoilhat It looks like the review was reposted (maybe to add a second photograph) and by doing this it has been verified a second time. However as I understand it a reviewer's second verification shouldn't count toward the total tally, is that right? Otherwise it would be easy to get new routes their snails without going through a proper peer review process. I'm pretty sure previously where I've added a second review to make a note it hasn't counted my second verify tick towards the tally. Reported 04 Feb 2022
  • Harsta Two and Harsta Three are identical, it looks like the route maker uploaded it twice, maybe they thought they needed to in order for it to work in both directions? The review on Harsta Three is by the route maker who awards 5 stars! I say we keep that one - in any case one of them should go. The review for this one (Harsta Two) is rather grumpy about the route direction, its not by the route maker. I haven't walked it myself yet, came across this anomaly while doing some planning, expect to walk/review it early 2022. Reported 26 Dec 2021
  • Update 02 April 2022. The seawall is now open as far as the station bridge at coastguard cottages. However, it is still necessary to cross the railway and approach the station via Lanherne and Richmond Place. The current intention is to re-open the final short stretch on 23 July 2022. Reported 04 Apr 2022
  • Routes have a date but it seems to be an Edit date not date uploaded. A route of mine whose description I later updated now appears to be about a year younger than the review. Not serious, but a bit confounding. Reported 24 Aug 2023
  • Hello. CharWat 1's Photo Survey date shows as today's when it was probably back in Jan 2022 - the date of mtormeys main survey. ChaMon 1 is a nearby and also has a photo survey. The dates show just as you'd expect, Dec 2021. This feels a little de ja vu so I've probably seen the same issue before elsewhere and not let you know, or I'm repeating an issue you already know about. Apologies! Daisy. Reported 14 Dec 2023
  • I can't get into the swarm stats page, getting Error 500 Sorry, something has gone wrong whether I try from home or from the swarm page, both of which go to https://beta.slowways.org/swarm-stats (I was logged in on Chrome on a Windows laptop but get the same result not logged in on Safari on an iPad mini). I am trying to write an article for the Walkers are Welcome internal newsletter, I have this currently (from Facebook) At the time of writing some reports are yet to be received but, nationally, Slow Ways report that, during the swarm :195 routes had been reviewed; 2,008.0 km (1,247.7 miles) of reviews had been shared; 33 routes had been fully verified. I hope this is reasonably accurate. Reported 06 Apr 2022
  • Please can you remove Maiasc Zero which is showing in my reviews waylist THIS LINK https://beta.slowways.org/Route/Maiasc/9258. It's another blank one. However, please be careful about https://beta.slowways.org/SlowWay/Maiasc. The text says there is no route for Maidenhead to Ascot, but the map shows my Skipton to Cross Hills route, although clicking that takes you to SkiCro Zero https://beta.slowways.org/Route/Skicro/9258 which is blank. I re-uploaded SkiCro Three https://beta.slowways.org/Route/Skicro/9890 which seems to be okay. There seems to be an ongoing occasional problem when uploading a new route, possibly when someone else happens to submit something at the same time. There is now no Maidenhead to Ascot at all, and my Skipton to Cross Hills disappeared (but I uploaded it again), and also when I added Preston Leyland (PreLey Two) it somehow got linked to Thorniehill-Barrhead near Glasgow as far as my waylist map goes https://beta.slowways.org/Route/Bartho/9391. Reported 12 Jul 2022
  • This route has been submitted as an alternative, and it is MUCH better and I really don't want to undermine that with this report. But there is a serious functional problem. Before I realised there was an option to "report" a route I tried to address this in a review, well two reviews, I hope that doesn't muddy the waters. Something seems to have gone wrong with the GPX file upload. On the route's own page there is nothing visible on the map, but if you click through to InkAtlas the route appears there. Is this a technical glitch that has happened for other new routes? GreWoo two is a lovely route along the Thames Path, and while GreWoo one may look superficially green in places on a map this is mostly walking along streetside pavements with the park or green space on the other side of a fence. I think Two is a better methodological fit. Reported 30 Jun 2021
  • Dear Slowways This slowway begins after crossing the railway bridge and advises walkers to follow North Hill. This access is on a private estate and has been securely gated. There is an easy alternative that follows Trevarthisn Road and Menecuddle Road. I have added a map to my review to clarify this. I have no idea if the closure is legal or not but a local resident was most vociferous, also the alternative is reasonable and sees a lot of established foot and cycle traffic. I viewed this on a busy Saturday morning. I hope this helps. Julia Reported 09 Jul 2022
  • This route gave an error 500 message when I uploaded it last night (30.05.2022), in fact I assumed it hadn't uploaded and was surprised to find it listed - but there is no routing information, the map is blank. I uploaded another new route, Harsou2, this afternoon and that one seems ok (apart from total length, max elevation, min elevation are missing from the GIS data page); but this one is not ok, it needs the route line to appear on the map. Thanks, Jane Reported 31 May 2022
  • A portion of this route is quite unsuitable for walkers. Farringdon Road (followed for approximately one mile between Gozzard’s Ford and the A415) has no footway or safe verges and is busy with fast-moving traffic. Cycling along here is bad enough. I wouldn’t walk along here with my family (and I’m reasonably bold about this kind of thing)! Reported 25 Oct 2022
  • This is a follow-up to your previous request #846 "Problem with a General: Site" Hi Christie I have tried to report two bugs/errors for a few days but keep getting Error 500, so I am trying emailing them. First A few of days ago, I accidentally clicked a second time to submit my review of Prebam Two, which I had created, when the first submission didn't show up quickly. My review is now duplicated, so please could you remove one of them. Second My Waylist map is showing Barrhead to Thorniebank (Bartho) which I didn’t add, and have never even viewed. When I click that route, and View Route Details, it takes me to Preley Two. Beneath my review is Other Routes for Barrhead—Thornliebank. Thanks Mary Oz (Austin) Reported 19 Feb 2022
  • Hello, a route I uploaded and reviewed Potenf2 (potters Bar to Enfield Town Two) has disappeared. Instead I have Ascot to Lightwater in its place. I had some void Ascot routes last year but this was recognised and fixed. I can re-do Potenf2, but can it be recovered? And can the void route Asclig be removed (again). Thank you. Tony Reported 30 Jun 2022
  • This is a follow-up to your previous request #1107 "Problem with a General: Site" Hi Cristie! Happy New Year! I asked Tony about what he remembered of Borpot One, and he definitely remembers there was a review too. I think for this specific instance it's maybe not that important, but it does suggest something else may have been going on behind the scenes when the route was accidently removed. Borpot Two is waiting for some better weather! Anyway, thanks for helping to get the 'Two' route back up and running. • The route is quite badly drawn in places, for example near Woodside. It looks as if it has been done at too low a resolution. I have a GPX track of the route from St Boswells to Woodhouse, if that would be helpful. One of my fellow walkers will be doing the bit from Woodhouse to Jedburgh and will submit a separate report. Reported 04 May 2022
  • From Wotton to Dursley, the suggested segment of the B4058 heading north from Coombe Road is very fast (60mph) and busy with no pavements. I would never recommend walking that way. A diversion via Coombe is far more quiet and appropriate for all users Reported 27 Jan 2022
  • I submitted this route myself but having tried to walk it yesterday, it is currently impassable due to the HS2 works having blocked one of the footpaths for three years with no diversion in place. I will upload the alternative route I walked yesterday. Reported 13 Nov 2022
  • This route goes through several miles of private land with no right of way in the Broadlands Estate: https://www.rowmaps.com/showmap.php?place=Romsey&map=Bing&lat=50.9891&lon=1.49975&lonew=W Reported 24 May 2022
  • Jock's Road / Tolmouth remains inaccessible, Storm Arwen wiped out much of Glen Doll's forests and the path between Glen Doll ranger base and the end of the forest is still blocked. Access is possible by walking up the South Esk, going left round by Loch Esk and reaching Crow Craigies that way, then down to Braemar Reported 29 Apr 2022
  • This route follows an imaginary reopened railway (i.e. old railway that for significant parts - miles - is not accessible nor passable). A reviewer comments that it is the John Buchan Way, but that is not true. It passes over the JBW at two locations, but the reviewer is mistaken. This route would be welcomed but for large parts simply does not exist - it seems that perhaps someone is mistaking old railway line on the OS map with a path. Reported 30 May 2022
  • The plotted route shows a line following the old railway line from Heacham sewage works through the Ken Hill Estate. This is a conservation area with restricted access. It is not a public footpath. Reported 10 Oct 2022
  • This route is impossible to follow. It goes across gardens and school grounds in urban areas. I think there is a problem with the GPS and it was shifted to the south or something similar. I have submitted an alternative route which is followable, and I think is better than the original intention as it spends more time in Foots Cray Meadows. I know the area a little and it is a public park/reserve of sorts. There are many paths maintained by Bexley Council beyond the PRoW shown on OS maps, and luckily these are on OSM. Reported 21 Jun 2022
  • The problem is not so much with this as that Etohor Two has vanished!! Etohor Two is the replacement route I made last December after flagging Etohor One - could it be the wrong one got deleted? Would love to get Etohor Two back please!! If it's not easy I can upload again, but I'm not sure if I still have photos. Thanks, Jane Reported 03 Jun 2022
  • This route is around Penrith in Cumbria not Brechin in Angus Reported 25 Apr 2022
  • Hi Cristie, For some time DawTop1 has not worked - it returns an ERROR 500. The Rail Resilience Project has caused closure of sections to which I referred in an earlier review (long lost I suspect) and which also led Dan to create DawTop 2. Should it still exist my original review is no longer valid and neither is Dan's as the major part of his diversion is now no longer necessary. I had posted a July date when the final short stretch was to be opened but unexpected foundation problems have forced this to be delayed and the latest permission states the closure is valid "until 07 September 2022 or when completed whichever is the earlier" (my italics). (The sensitivities of local Parish Councillors have been offended!) I felt some update was called for and have submitted a DawTop3 to which I have added a review and survey to repeat/update data conveyed in my original review/survey. I leave you to decide what further tidying-up is required but it might be worth renaming DawTop3 to DawTop1 and removing the malfunctioning DawTop1 and Dan's alternative (DawTop 2) while retaining his review, photos and validation and Pilea's review and validation in the new DawTop1 (aka Dawtop3) if they are agreeable? All 3 are exactly the same track which is indubitably the most appropriate from 07 September 2022. There are some other issues. I have submitted it with the original DawTop .gpx although I am a little uncomfortable with it. At times it drifts up to 25m from the true track although this is not usually an issue - just means someone following the screen track zoomed in would be aware of apparently criss-crossing the mainline railway on occasions and paddling below the low-water tide line on others! However, it starts from inside Geronimo's coffee bar, ploughs straight through the station booking office walls and exits into the station car park dead-end on the wrong side of the tracks! I have allowed for this in the review. However, if required I can re-walk the route after 7 September (or when possible) and submit a new .gpx track. In the description and review I have also drawn attention to the irregularity of the ferry timetable and the complications of arriving to learn the next ferry is due at 1000 on the first Friday of next month given that a further walk of up to 3km is the only way out to civilisation! Seemed important. While in contact . . . . A couple of other observations. ChuDaw1 includes a seriously dangerous stretch of blind bends on a very busy road without footpaths, bordered by impregnable Devon banks and a reputation as one of the most dangerous roads in the County! I condemned the Way and note another contributor to ChuTei1, which uses the same stretch, has done likewise. It is lethal and frankly the thought that it remains a possible Slow Way worries me. It is inappropriate for anyone (I tried it and felt exceedingly irresponsible and inconsiderate [and a bl---- fool]). I shudder to think of a family, young children or someone with a dog attempting it. I've always thought the star system should allow for zero stars to be awarded as on a dark night even one star is a vote of confidence! My suggested alternative (ChuDaw2) is a really great, off-road alternative - and is actually slightly shorter - even the version I uploaded which in fairness could be shortened still further by using road stretches for the purity of "directness" BUT at the expense of some outstanding bridle ways and paths even by Devon standards. I expect all 4 Daw ways to be snailed this year. This target is closer than appears from just looking at current validations but ChuDaw is proving a bit more of an issue because of its length and climbs. However, we have a tradition of 19th century naval press-ganging in South Devon , , , , , , . . . I also plan to re-visit each of my descriptions and reviews following the full restoration of the seawall which I shall upload using the new edit feature. Thank you, Cristie, for your earlier correspondence and encouragement and I hope you can see your way to perhaps resolving the DawTop problem. Please pass my thanks to Dan also - I was delighted he walked and clearly enjoyed my TeiDaw2 alternative. With very best wishes Tony (Leigh) PS. What a way to start your Friday morning. If you park this email until Monday I shall not be offended :-) Reported 09 Jun 2022
  • Hi, I've uploaded a new route from Salford to Manchester. After clicking add route I got an error 500. There was no record of the route in my account. I tried again. Looking at the routes for SalMan, the entry has gone in twice. SalMan2 and SalMan3. Another problem is the map of the route is not displayed. Can you look into this. Thanks, Chris Reported 09 Jun 2021
  • This is a follow-up to your previous request #991 "Re: [Slow Ways] Re: Account..." Christie Sorry to be a pain, but having reviewed My Account, I'm still miles out ( pardon the pun ) between your km Surveyed / Reviewed and mine My records suggest they should both read about 560 km Can this be changed?
