  • Review only covers a small portion of the route, I don't think the reviewer cycles this exact route as mapped. Should not contribute to a snail. Reported 30 Mar 2024
  • I just tried to write a review for one of the Plymouth-Plymstock routes today (22/05/2021), along with 3 photos, and I received an Error 500 message after submitting. Reported 22 May 2021
  • There are 2 SouBur One routes. https://beta.slowways.org/Route/Soubur/257 and https://beta.slowways.org/Route/Soubur/4497. Upload date for both is 7 April 2021. Bit confusing for users, not sure if it could have any technical consequences. At the moment there is a single negative review on 257, and nothing on 4497. But 4497 coincides with (or follows) the suggested fix (and it adds a little more coast path nr one end). Is possible to rename one of them, i.e. simply change 4497 to SouBur 2? Reported 05 Mar 2023
  • Looks like posted in error, doesnt relate to the walk under review Reported 26 Oct 2021
  • Hello. CharWat 1's Photo Survey date shows as today's when it was probably back in Jan 2022 - the date of mtormeys main survey. ChaMon 1 is a nearby and also has a photo survey. The dates show just as you'd expect, Dec 2021. This feels a little de ja vu so I've probably seen the same issue before elsewhere and not let you know, or I'm repeating an issue you already know about. Apologies! Daisy. Reported 14 Dec 2023
  • I’ve reported a few bugs but wanted to say that this looks good, there’s lots of great information available and I’m excited about getting out there and starting to walk and report/review some of the routes local to me. It’s a great initiative and I look forward to seeing it develop over time. Well done to all involved. Reported 19 Apr 2021
  • Hi. On Tuesday 18.05.2021 I walked route Ellche (from Chester to Ellesmere Port). Yesterday I tried to submit a review and also undertake a verification. I had selected 15 photos (all less than 10MB). I tried to submit the report twice having taken ages to load-up the photos (which all showed up in photo preview after they loaded). However, each time I pressed submit after completing the verification section I got an 'Error 500: Sorry, something has gone wrong' message. Today I have tried again with 15 photos and got it again each time. I then tried with just 3 photos and the same has happened. I'm not sure if the issue is with me in terms of photos or text format or with the website etc? For example, in addition to the 15 photos my comments were fairly long - not quite an A4 sheet at font size 11 - but there is no indication of any word or character limit. Also, I first wrote up the comments in Word and then copied and paste to the Comments Box (so not sure if that's an issue?). SOS! Thanks. Paul Reported 20 May 2021
  • Aldercar and Langley Mill FP 34 at SK 44701 49128 waterlogged even after six weeks without rain. Pond close by is culprit. Reported to Derbys CC today 24/4/2021. Reported 24 Apr 2021
  • Brinsley FP25 at SK 45080 49001 there is no gap, gate or stile to cross the boundary. This has been reported to Notts CC today 24/4/2021. There is a stile at SK 45117 48873 but no sign to direct users to it. Should the route be amended to use the available stile. How do we advise Slow Way users? Reported 24 Apr 2021
  • Hi, I reviewed a route (Levsto one) and indicated that it needed to be removed, as it passed through a high metal fence. I set up an alternative route (Levsto 2). I am a bit puzzled why Levsto 1 has been marked as ‘possibly verified’. Surely it could be marked as having a problem, or it even could be removed? Would it require another negative review before being removed? There is a similar issue with Stoden 1 and 2. I would survey routes if they had been verified. Thanks, Ian Vaughan Reported 25 Sep 2021
  • I noted this was reported. My route won't upload because the start and endpoints don't match but I put both into my OS Maps program and included them in the route? "When uploading a route the start and end points have to match the pre-existing choice of start and end already on the website. It shouldn't matter if a route goes from the existing "end" to the existing "start", i.e. is inverted. (e.g. Chippenham to Calne is the same as Calne to Chippenham - either direction should work.)" Reported 26 Apr 2021
  • Just arranged to walk a route and do a survey, so am looking at the survey form. Under access there is a question "free of single steps or drop kerbs". If there is a drop kerb, there is no issue. Surely should be just "free of steps". Under gradients, the units are cm and should be % according to you training guide. Also, not entirely clear what walking east and walking west means. Our route is north east-south west (CROBRA) . I suggest that you need the direction of the walk on the form. Then you just need steepest uphill and steepest downhill. If someone does the reverse they can swop the uphill/downhill. You have "Flight of steps" twice. Reported 24 Apr 2021
  • I walked this route (most of it) today using OS Maps with GPS. At approx. GR 391892, 394425 the path turns down Warren Close, then enters ginnels before leaving the housing area at GR 391709, 394629. The path follows the edge of some garden fences, behind back gardens, and is poor quality, then reaches open ground where the way is not marked and the right of way is almost ‘disguised’. This gets worse - at about GR 391626, 394656 the right of way is barred by a fence and a padlocked gate. (Perhaps there has been a tactical move to make the right of way ‘unused’.). I had the GPS working on my phone at the time, and I am fairly confident that it was the right of way - which on paper looks fine - used by the start team that was blocked. The footpaths on the OS map to the north were also very indeterminate, and at one point I got through a gap that had been made in a chain link fence, to reach Windmill Lane and rejoin the route at the A57. I have reviewed Stoden 1 as a one star, given that the path is barred. Perhaps it should be culled? I have put in an alternative, which does use a bit more road, but the A57 on Stoden 1 is not pleasant, (the vehicles turning into the side roads one has to cross is the worst aspect), and the alternative does use straight lines, minor roads, and makes use of the park near the destination, and is a bit shorter. Unfortunately the route is definitely not wheels-useable, with apart from anything else a series of steps at approx. GR 390613, 393345. Reported 30 Apr 2021
  • I walked part of the Wooler to Alnwick route today from Wooler to Eglingham and will complete the route soon and post a review (the part walked today was a fantastic). However there is a problem with the route from Berwick Folly (Way Point 269, map ref 067227) to where the route joins with a bridleway at WayPoint 300, map ref 079221. The route between these points is drawn as a straight line, but it does not follow any footpath or other right of way and it is not over access land for most of the way. I had noted that this part of the route was odd when I reviewed it on an OS map before setting off but assumed that Berwick Folly was an unoccupied derelict property and the route followed an ancient unused byway. However Berwick Folly is a farmhouse with outbuildings converted into very expensive/exclusive looking cottages. The route shown starts by crossing a large very neatly tended private lawn and then into an arable field. We spoke to a charming and helpful resident who told us there had never been any sort of pathway on the SlowWays route and the farmer did not like walkers on even legitimate rights of way over his land! We did find a route sticking to public rights of way until we were into the Access Land and then cutting across to rejoin the SlowWays route which added minimal distance to the walk. I can send you the details of the route I took by email attachment if this would be helpful. Rick Sweeney Reported 15 Jun 2021
  • Hello, a route I uploaded and reviewed Potenf2 (potters Bar to Enfield Town Two) has disappeared. Instead I have Ascot to Lightwater in its place. I had some void Ascot routes last year but this was recognised and fixed. I can re-do Potenf2, but can it be recovered? And can the void route Asclig be removed (again). Thank you. Tony Reported 30 Jun 2022
  • This route runs through the Broad Ride of Cirencester Park from Cecily Hill to Sapperton. This is not a public right of way (according to the online Gloucestershire PROW map). Only the east part of the Broad Ride are open to the public and the gates are locked at 18:00 every evening. To get from Sapperton to Cirencester follow the Thames Severn Way to the Tunnel House and cut across to Coates and then through the Royal Agricultural University farm fields to the Foss Way just west of Cirencester Reported 16 Apr 2021
  • It seems to be on there twice. Reported 19 May 2021
  • There is an anomaly with Yate to Frampton Cotterell-winterbourne. The Slow Ways map indicates that there is a Slow Way between these two places but a click through from the line leads to a blank page and the Slow Way is not mentioned on either of the place pages. Is there a Slow Way GPX for this route? Is there meant to be? Reported 12 Feb 2023
  • At GR 388229; 392771, in Heaton Chapel there is no access to Norfolk Avenue from the open ground - the route shown - (there’s a high metal fence). The recreation ground exit is in the west corner leading to Meadows Road. On Meadows Road, although the first left (Langdale Road) leads to the A6, I would recommend that the route uses the second left - Milwain Drive. This will lead to the pedestrian controlled crossing near the corner of Milwain Drive. After crossing the A6, the first right (Alford Road) will minimise the time spent on the A6, and links up with the original route. Reported 02 May 2021
  • Part of this route would involve walking along the B2068 past Farthing Common Plant Centre. This is a fast road with no footpath, of which I would not recommend walking along. Reported 28 Apr 2021
  • The route suggested is not accessible - there is no access to the Buckinghamshire bank of the Thames from Taplow Riverside running north to Cliveden, nor from Cliveden to Hedsor. An alternative is to follow the Berkshire bank to Cookham Bridge and then take the footpath to Hedsor and rejoin the existing route; but an even better (shorter) alternative is to follow the National Trust path from Maidenhead town centre through Maidenhead Commons to Cookham and then over the bridge. Reported 26 Apr 2021
  • The route goes across MOD land. There is a lot of MOD land in this area - some is always open, some is not. This particular bit often has closures. I go up there fairly regularly, so wouldn't want to see no routings there, but there needs to be some way to prompt people to check timings and have an alternate in mind. If that isn't possible on the system, then it should be de-emphasised. I've done a few alternates this afternoon due to this issue (two I'm happy with that go to the south of the ranges, and one that goes to the north, but might as well be AshBro + BroGui). Honestly, if I were going to do AshGui, I'd go across the ranges directly - but then I live right next to Ash Vale node and am familiar with the ranges... so I'd love a database extension for 'check timings'. There is a path that hugs the fence, but I can't gpx that for you from the laptop as its all in the trees! ... and it'd probably only shave about a km from the route I did earlier that goes Ash Vale to Ash through Christmas Pie to Guildford. The more serious issue with this particular route for me is that it appears to follow the railway at Wood Street Village. The path actually goes across the railway, before joining a NS path and then crossing *back* a few hundred metres further on.... Reported 01 May 2021
  • This route goes over MOD land which is not open to the public. Please remove. Reported 25 Oct 2021
  • There’s a 3km section which is on private land where there’s no Right of Way. This is between Park Lane at Weel Carr and Meaux Bridge. Also, crossing the A165 is dangerous, especially since just nearby there’s an underpass. Reported 13 May 2021
  • Hi, I’ve walked Huthor 1 and there are two problems. Firstly at Hutton Cranswick where the route goes over a railway line. In reality on the ground there is no footpath here and it’s not possible to cross the railway line. Secondly, just before the route joins Seaton Road on the way into Hornsea, the route is drawn on private land. (The actual right of way footpath is only 200m away). I’ve redrawn the route in order to avoid these two problems and have uploaded it as Huthor 2. Reported 20 May 2021
  • I submitted this route myself but having tried to walk it yesterday, it is currently impassable due to the HS2 works having blocked one of the footpaths for three years with no diversion in place. I will upload the alternative route I walked yesterday. Reported 13 Nov 2022
  • When I submit a review I get this, see attachments. I can’t work out what the problem is . Please can you help. Rosalind Reported 17 May 2021
  • This request was created from a contribution made by Guy Brindle on 23 April 2021 21:33 UTC. Wadcam (one?) may need to become a ghost route. Link: https://slowways.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/community/posts/360015251857-WadCam -- There are some issues with this route. It looks fine on paper, and this is my local area for walks.  The start of this walk  off the Camel Trail to Sladesbridge is possible but it is under review  to upgrade the route. The route from Sladesbridge along the bridlepath to to the road just past  Rocksea Mill cottage is fine. However, you have a problem from Allenbrook to Littlewood Mill it is a path but it is private property. The public footpath starts there but turns off uphill after some 100 meters. Again if you continue along the proposed track you are going onto private property once more till you reach the gate on the road which states  it is not a public right of way, and permission is needed to walk through There is no other issues otherwise with this route. However in this stated  form this route is not  walkable Reported 24 Apr 2021
  • I have downloaded and printed the survey forms and completed them by hand. How to I send these to you. There are supplementary documents on an error in the route. I was hoping to scan these and send them as a pdf, but cannot find such a facility on the slow ways website. Ken Perrett Reported 30 Apr 2021
  • I surveyed & uploaded a route (strgla one) at the weekend. It appeared this morning without the pictures. I noticed someone else has experienced this on the forum.. is there a problem? Reported 05 May 2021
  • Hi. My husband and I attempted to walk this route today, and a middle section of the published route did not correlate at all with the walking routes available. At one point the route crosses a stream and there is no way of crossing it at that place. It appears that a volunteer walked this route on 7 April but their review is not shown on the website- do you have any more details, and is this type of issue commonplace? We had to deviate from the route with difficulty to complete it. Kind Regards, Karen Reported 10 May 2021
  • Hi Yesterday I surveyed the route Adel to Pool in Wharfedale (Pooade). In the evening I completed a survey questionnaire and spent ages uploading 14 photos, but then at the end got an error message. When I have more time I will try again but I don't want to go to all the effort of typing all my comments and uploading the photos again, if the same thing is going to happen again. I thought it maybe would take time for my report to appear but I've checked again tonight and it isn't there. Is there a problem at the moment with surveys do you know? Thanks Lynne Strutt Sent from Samsung tablet. Reported 13 May 2021
  • Hi there This is probably a silly question but I can't, for the life of me, see it covered anywhere. I've looked at a route local to me, Dislon (or maybe Dislon one) and I can see some tweaks to improve it. For example, it comes out on a fairly busy road for a stretch with no real verges. I can suggest a tweak a few miles back that will bring it out on a much better place. How am I best to suggest these? Love what you are doing, pleased to try and help. Thank you Stephen Reported 26 Oct 2021
