  • Hi. On Tuesday 18.05.2021 I walked route Ellche (from Chester to Ellesmere Port). Yesterday I tried to submit a review and also undertake a verification. I had selected 15 photos (all less than 10MB). I tried to submit the report twice having taken ages to load-up the photos (which all showed up in photo preview after they loaded). However, each time I pressed submit after completing the verification section I got an 'Error 500: Sorry, something has gone wrong' message. Today I have tried again with 15 photos and got it again each time. I then tried with just 3 photos and the same has happened. I'm not sure if the issue is with me in terms of photos or text format or with the website etc? For example, in addition to the 15 photos my comments were fairly long - not quite an A4 sheet at font size 11 - but there is no indication of any word or character limit. Also, I first wrote up the comments in Word and then copied and paste to the Comments Box (so not sure if that's an issue?). SOS! Thanks. Paul Reported 20 May 2021

  • 04.07.21 I was uploading my review of Pathar1 on which I had submitted the allowed total of 15 pictures that I had referenced in the written review. It appears to have deleted all but the 1st 3 pictures "Oops! An Error Occurred The server returned a "413 Payload Too Large". Something is broken. Please let us know what you were doing when this error occurred. We will fix it as soon as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience caused." Reported 04 Jul 2021
  • I’ve reported a few bugs but wanted to say that this looks good, there’s lots of great information available and I’m excited about getting out there and starting to walk and report/review some of the routes local to me. It’s a great initiative and I look forward to seeing it develop over time. Well done to all involved. Reported 19 Apr 2021
  • Further to my previous report on problems with pledges. The error happened from this page https://beta.slowways.org/Route/Whitmar/4090 . I have successfully pledged on this page https://beta.slowways.org/Settlement/Whitchurch%20(Shropshire) Reported 14 Jul 2023
  • The route suggested is not accessible - there is no access to the Buckinghamshire bank of the Thames from Taplow Riverside running north to Cliveden, nor from Cliveden to Hedsor. An alternative is to follow the Berkshire bank to Cookham Bridge and then take the footpath to Hedsor and rejoin the existing route; but an even better (shorter) alternative is to follow the National Trust path from Maidenhead town centre through Maidenhead Commons to Cookham and then over the bridge. • Just arranged to walk a route and do a survey, so am looking at the survey form. Under access there is a question "free of single steps or drop kerbs". If there is a drop kerb, there is no issue. Surely should be just "free of steps". Under gradients, the units are cm and should be % according to you training guide. Also, not entirely clear what walking east and walking west means. Our route is north east-south west (CROBRA) . I suggest that you need the direction of the walk on the form. Then you just need steepest uphill and steepest downhill. If someone does the reverse they can swop the uphill/downhill. You have "Flight of steps" twice. Reported 24 Apr 2021
  • Very minor, but annoying. When searching for affiliations in the user profile, the focus is lost from the input box after each letter and the user has to click in again. Reported 13 Jul 2023
  • Part of this route would involve walking along the B2068 past Farthing Common Plant Centre. This is a fast road with no footpath, of which I would not recommend walking along. Reported 28 Apr 2021
  • I walked part of the Wooler to Alnwick route today from Wooler to Eglingham and will complete the route soon and post a review (the part walked today was a fantastic). However there is a problem with the route from Berwick Folly (Way Point 269, map ref 067227) to where the route joins with a bridleway at WayPoint 300, map ref 079221. The route between these points is drawn as a straight line, but it does not follow any footpath or other right of way and it is not over access land for most of the way. I had noted that this part of the route was odd when I reviewed it on an OS map before setting off but assumed that Berwick Folly was an unoccupied derelict property and the route followed an ancient unused byway. However Berwick Folly is a farmhouse with outbuildings converted into very expensive/exclusive looking cottages. The route shown starts by crossing a large very neatly tended private lawn and then into an arable field. We spoke to a charming and helpful resident who told us there had never been any sort of pathway on the SlowWays route and the farmer did not like walkers on even legitimate rights of way over his land! We did find a route sticking to public rights of way until we were into the Access Land and then cutting across to rejoin the SlowWays route which added minimal distance to the walk. I can send you the details of the route I took by email attachment if this would be helpful. Rick Sweeney Reported 15 Jun 2021
  • Jock's Road / Tolmouth remains inaccessible, Storm Arwen wiped out much of Glen Doll's forests and the path between Glen Doll ranger base and the end of the forest is still blocked. Access is possible by walking up the South Esk, going left round by Loch Esk and reaching Crow Craigies that way, then down to Braemar Reported 29 Apr 2022
  • Hi Yesterday I surveyed the route Adel to Pool in Wharfedale (Pooade). In the evening I completed a survey questionnaire and spent ages uploading 14 photos, but then at the end got an error message. When I have more time I will try again but I don't want to go to all the effort of typing all my comments and uploading the photos again, if the same thing is going to happen again. I thought it maybe would take time for my report to appear but I've checked again tonight and it isn't there. Is there a problem at the moment with surveys do you know? Thanks Lynne Strutt Sent from Samsung tablet. Reported 13 May 2021
  • I have downloaded and printed the survey forms and completed them by hand. How to I send these to you. There are supplementary documents on an error in the route. I was hoping to scan these and send them as a pdf, but cannot find such a facility on the slow ways website. Ken Perrett Reported 30 Apr 2021
  • Sorry - I should have raised this issue much earlier, but I don't think Billington is the right choice of settlement for this location. Billington is adjacent to/on the outskirts of Whalley, which is a much more appropriate choice of settlement. Billington does not really have any identity or facilities other than housing, whereas Whalley is a vibrant place, with many facilities. (I am a frequent visitor!) Replacing Billington with Whalley would entail a settlement move of c. 1km. I would be happy to replot all the Billington routes to start/finish in Whalley if this is possible. Reported 03 Jul 2021
