    1. For this survey of Riceal one, I walked the route in reverse order, from Ealing to Richmond. This is the route outside of Ealing broadway station (listed as 8.5km from the start of the walk, with Richmond being the official start, but 0km if you do it in reverse direction like I did). This section is on pavements, reasonable quality surfaces, but part of the high street so can be busy, especially on weekends. 8.5 km from start — 25 Jun 2021

    2. Leaving the main road, to head into Warpole Park. The footpath is closed to construction, but you can follow the pavement 50m further south, and take the pavement along the side road to the park entrance. 8.2 km from start — 25 Jun 2021

    3. Upon leaving Warpole Park and crossing the street (fairly quiet residential street), the entrance in front of you to Lammas Park has a cycle barrier (the narrowest part is 90cm) and a gate that you have to open. But if you go around the corner onto Elers Road, there's a another gate which stands open during the day, and doesn't have any type of cycle barrier to access the pavement. 7 km from start — 25 Jun 2021

    5. The stretch along the pavement, beside Boston Manor Road, between Blondin Park and Boston Manor Park. There is a bike lane beside the road, and a separate footpath closer to the houses 5.1 km from start — 25 Jun 2021

    6. Entrance to Boston Manor Park. The paved paths in this section of the park are a bit old and cracked, and the path connecting this side entrance to the main paths in the park is also a bit narrower (115cm). 5 km from start — 25 Jun 2021

    7. Route through Boston Manor Park 1: the Slow-ways map shows crossing the park diagonally. This route would involve veering off the path to cross a large, grassy meadow or playing fields (short grass). But there are multiple other ways to gross the park. An more accessible alternate is following the path SE before taking a right angle (description and photo below). I'll also leave a review of the route talking about other options 4.8 km from start — 25 Jun 2021

    8. Alt if you don't want to walk across the grass in Boston Manor Park is to take the footpath heading south-east (coming from the Ealing end), past the old Manor house, and the tennis courts, and then turn right after the parking lot. This photo is of the path past the tennis courts 4.8 km from start — 25 Jun 2021

    9. Where the path turns right after the parking lot in Boston Manor park, there is a short section (about 10feet) where the pavement is in bad condition - it's rutted with some lose gravel. 4.8 km from start — 25 Jun 2021

    10. Gate leaving Boston Manor park - it's 91cm wide and locked after hours. 4.6 km from start — 25 Jun 2021

    11. Bridge over the canal as you leave Boston Manor Park. There is unfortunately no steps-free alternative. 4.6 km from start — 25 Jun 2021

    12. The pavement after you leave Syon Park is briefly quite narrow, with one particular driveway with a curb (about 4 cm). It can be avoided by crossing the road when you come out of the Syon Park, and taking the opposite pavement (which involves going up a small hill outside the church - ramp, not steps) 2.1 km from start — 25 Jun 2021

    13. This section of the path by the river is prone to flooding, but there's a short, signposted detour to avoid it 1 km from start — 25 Jun 2021

    14. Bridge across the Thames 1 km from start — 25 Jun 2021

    15. Gate blocking car route at Old Palace Yard - the pedestrian and bike route is open, though. Gate can be avoided by taking alternate route along Old Palace Lane 0.5 km from start — 25 Jun 2021
