    1. I walked from Harrow to Bushey, which is generally uphill. Harrow Bus and Tube station with town centre facilities. The first third of the walk is along city streets with good pavements. 0 km from start — 24 Sep 2021

    2. The long straight Harrow View Road, easy undulating pavement walking beside a busy Road. You can see Harrow Weald hills in the distance, that's where you're heading. 1.5 km from start — 24 Sep 2021

    3. On the righthand side of Harrow View Road (coming from Harrow) just before the road crosses the railway, there is a path down to the pedestrian railway crossing. Step free on both sides, zig zag slope down to the bridge. 2.5 km from start — 24 Sep 2021

    4. At the end of the residential streets there is a short dual carriageway with a copse in the middle (looks like a sideways D on the map). You can go either way, I turned left to a crossing point and doubled back to the midpoint of the curve where the footpath starts. Countryside from this point, but also steeper. 3 km from start — 24 Sep 2021

    5. Narrow steep path going up toward the Pub and viewpoint. Narrow in places Turns to a gravel single track roadway past houses nerer the top. 3.2 km from start — 24 Sep 2021

    6. R&R. Next door to the viewpoint which has recently been re-landscaped (summer 21). Picnic tables may be replaced as previously. Into the woods at the end of the car park towards the Grimms Dike and the drained lake. Steep, muddy, with roots. Follow the London Loop signs for a while. 6.2 km from start — 24 Sep 2021

    7. Alongside (and between) Golf courses, Look for a kissing gate on the right to enter Mutton Wood. 7 km from start — 24 Sep 2021

    8. Mutton wood has a narrow rooty path, very muddy when wet. This photo of a deep gully with steep sides should be crossed with care. There are two stream crossings, they are narrow and shallow. Despite the difficulty this path is popular with dog walkers and hikers alike. Not suitable for wheels, Not suitable for a weaker walker. 7.5 km from start — 24 Sep 2021

    9. On to Merry Hill, wide paths through new woodland, very slippery and muddy in winter. It opens up into an area with conservation grazing, there are cattle in open fields. At the top through a kissing gate the path is made up of compacted grit and the going is easier. 9 km from start — 24 Sep 2021

    10. After crossing a road the path becomes tarmac and goes down then steeply up through the graveyard to the church on Bushey High Street 10 km from start — 24 Sep 2021
