Midlee Survey

Route description

This route corrects the difficulties encountered with Midlee Two. In particular it takes an easy safe route through Middleton Park on one of the old Waggon Ways. After Middleton Park there is a bit of road walking through an industrial estate to Cross Flatts Park. There is a sharp descent (steps) through Holbeck Park with good views across Leeds. The approach to central Leeds goes through the up and coming South Bank area, past the Egyptian style Temple Works (scheduled to become a new British Library North at time of making the route) and through an interesting recent development of old mills and warehouses, now with eating/drinking opportunities. The final approach to central Leeds I have routed through the fascinating tunnel under Leeds station where you can see the River Aire running underground. There is direct access to the station from the tunnel too. At time of making the roads around Leeds station are dug up, and it isn't entirely clear how the final meeting point will best be accessed once the works are complete, I've made a guess.
