Alfsel Survey

4XMarch 2022 by StephenWalker

Route description

Alfsel one uses a path at Pinxton Wharf that does not exist on the map or on the ground. This route uses a path that is on the ground and is well used but not yet on the map. A definitive map modification order has been submitted to Derbyshire CC to have the route added. It does cross the ralway on the level, Network Rail provide a safe and signed crossing. Alfsel one used a path across the Smotherfly Open Cast mining site which is obstructed and was never reinstated after mining finished. The route offered here is again well used but not on the map. The landowner has proposed a diversion along this route. The remainder of the route is as proposed in Alfsel one. Nice at the Selston end but except for the ponds at Cotes Park is not a pretty walk or pleasant walk.
