Help connect Yelverton

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Yelverton’s Slow Ways.

It goes through the private lands of Blachford Estate with no public access. I'm going to post an alternative route, which is actually slightly shorter anyway....

Walk this route

This is a very scenic route which follows the Drake trail which is part of the national cycle network. As a result the route is easy and safe with good quality track under foot. Being on an established trail means it's easy to navigate and well signposted....

Walk this route

Once out of Yelverton, quite a lot of this route follows disused railway routes and are just long, gentle inclines....

I walked this route in reverse starting in Yelveton and walking to Tavistock....

Lara

Walk this route

The route is reasonably accurate apart from one point where it tells you to walk through an impenetrable row of houses!...

Peter Goodman

Walk this route

This is good if you are on foot and want to get away from traffic but is not the most direct route available. It can also get quite muddy in winter months!...

TravellingLines

Walk this route

This route follows the National Cycle Trail from Tavistock to Yelverton. It is almost entirely on tarmac and is regularly used by cyclists and walkers alike. I'm going to suggest an alteration to the start because of an unnecessary detour around the college....

TravellingLines

Walk this route

From yelverton it mostly uses the route of The Dartmoor Way, then picks up the Plym Trail and West Devon Way all of which are signed....

Tim Ryan

Walk this route

A very enjoyable walk using bridleways and old disused railways to cross open moorland. Scarcely any road, but that which exists near Yelverton is a quiet lane with pavement or wide verges. very pleasant walk....

Tim Ryan

Walk this route

This route is scenic and easy to follow, until you get to Clearbrook....

Walk this route

As well as following the route of the old railway line there are options for more challenging and scenic detours through the woods either side of the main route....

MRABrown

Walk this route

Walkers might head up North Hill and follow the A386 all the way to Roborough and once you're on the moor, pick up one of the many paths that head north across the moor to Yelverton...
