We had lunch by the clocktower on the picturesque greensward, looking out across the sea, and then headed down the steps to the promenade heading left along the seafront towards Walton Pier....

We walked the first part of this route from Frinton Station to the seafront, taking in intriguing houses and a fascinating church embedded with pebbles on the way. This is a quiet urban environment - leading to a vibrant street of shops. Generous dollops of ice cream helped us finish our journey scrumptiously at the greensward overlooking the sea - inviting us for a longer trip next time....

Walk this routeI love having lunch at the blue Clock Tower or the Gardens for lunch, watching dog walkers and kite flyers against the backdrop of the sparkling sea. I wander the Greensward taking in the flowers or head down to the Prom to follow the coast and it's moods, until I am welcomed by the smell of donuts and ice cream at the pier of Walton-on-the-Naze....
