An easy walk in the Taff Bargoed and Taff valleys, although the first section is quite steep going down the zig-zag path from Treharris to the Taff Bargoed river....
This is a straight forward walk in the Taff Bargoed, Taff and Cynon valleys, mostly following cycle tracks, mainly the Taff and the Cynon Trails (national cycle routes 8 and 478). For wheelchair users, instead of taking the footpath before crossing the B4275 river bridge at Abercynon, an easier path would be to continue over the river bridge and turn right along River Row, which leads on to Park Row, then go through the leisure centre car park and cross the foot bridge back over the river to re-join the path Photo 2 - The River Taff just before Abercynon...
After crossing the suspension bridge coming out of Treharris, the path goes a couple of miles through the Taff Bargoed Park, which is full of varied scenery, such as ponds, wetlands, reedbeds and woodlands, culminating in the renowned climbing centre. Crossing the road at the end of the park takes you on to the loops and links path into Bedlinog, where there are some interesting info panels on its history, notably the industrial riots in the 1930`s! Lost a star because of the walk up to Gelligaer from Pengam (which I've never been a fan of) but from Gelligaer onwards the walk is great. No problems with the route, but lots of stiles, kissing gates and mud so not suitable for wheels....
Nice easy route on paved cycle path. Very accessible and pleasant walk through Parc Penallta....
This is an easy route, mostly following the Taff Trail (good for cycling). There are a few steps on the path linking Treharris with the bridge over the river at the bottom of the hill, but these could easily be avoided....
This is an easy route, mostly along a wide, paved cycle route. No access issues....
