The route feels almost episodic, with different types of landscape - urban, construction for HS2, road sections, pasture and arable land all taking turns....

Martin McGovern added Thaayl two, a new walk from Thame to Aylesbury
Walk this routeI took extensive notes and photographs with the intention of providing a thorough review but the section from Waterperry to Wheatley is simply too dangerous and unpleasant to recommend. For completeness, the section from Thame to Waterperry is great (4/5) and the section from Wheatley to Oxford via Shotover is walked by thousands every year and well documented....

For a longer (and shadier on a hot day) walk, there are footpaths through the woods (Photo 2). I thought it best to cautiously walk along the left-hand verge (Photo 6). The Slow Way crosses the River Thame by a picturesque mill in Waterstock (Photo 8). The Slow Way passes through the woods of Rycote Park and by Rycote Chapel (Photo 10). The final part of this Slow Way is a straightforward walk through Moreton village, and then well-maintained footpaths into Thame, finishing outside the town hall (Photo 12)....

I found this to be quite a tricky route with minimal signage and field paths not reinstated by farmers or heavily overgrown....

We walked this route from Thame to Brill in late August 2022, after a long period without rain, so the terrain was invariably firm under foot....

As the previous reviews have noted, the majority of this route is on the disused railway line now known as The Phoenix Trail, and it is consequently pretty straight and level for most of the way. We walked the route starting at Princes Risborough, and took a slight diversion off the route for lunch at the Three Horseshoes in Towersey, which I would recommend. Overall it was a very easy and enjoyable walk....

This makes the bulk of the route suitable for wheels, but the section from the centre of Princes Risborough to the NCR isn't - there's quite a variety of terrain, including flint chips beside the church, a bridleway through a field, and two flights of steps bounded by stiles....

Leaving Moreton, take the right turn (which immediately bends left), not the straight on track. When you emerge onto the A329 at the Oxfordshire Golf Club gate, continue for 100m before taking the Oxfordshire Way sign into Rycote Old Paddock. After the section of the Oxfordshire Way on Waterstock Golf Course, continue straight onto the field. Continue through Home Farm, and keep left, taking the stile into Rycote Estate. Cross the stile next to the Oxfordshire Golf Course gate, and turn immediately left over a second stile6...

After a section from Watlington to Pyrton, the route follows the Oxfordshire Way to Tetsworth, and then continues north into Thame....

To the west of Tetsworth, just before you cross the M40, there are multiple paths signed, but it isn't easy to tell which of them corresponds to the official route - nor which of the signs correspond to navigable paths....

Large parts of the route are pretty straight, and go across fields, so there aren't too many tricky turns. Tricky turns - Brill to Thame. After crossing the Chilton-Chearsley road, the route skirts round Wombwell Farm2 Tricky turns - Thame to Brill....

A lot of the route is very easy to walk and cycle on as it is tarmac, gravel or reasonable wide paths....
