Help connect Stalham
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Stalham’s Slow Ways.

Stalham to Potter Heigham to Winterton to Caister. From Potter Heigham this then transitioned to riverbank for quite a way towards the coast and then again some quieter lanes and footpath to join where route 1 is at Winterton. There are facilities for breaks along the way in Stalham, Hickling, Potter Heigham, Winterton and a few places just off the path as well as Caister. There are public transport links between these places - perhaps easiest Stalham to Potter and Winterton and Caister. I also think that a third version of the route could take the south direction out of Stalham like this route and then skirt to the north of Hickling broad on lanes and then pitch across to Sea Palling and then be the same as route 1....
Truffle
There are a couple of places to stop and eat in Sea Palling, Winterton or Scratby if you need to break up the walk, but once you're at the coast the walk mostly follows the same route as the Norfolk costal path over the dunes....

Truffle added Stacai two, a new walk from Stalham to Caister-on-Sea
Walk this routeThis route contains a long stretch (over 2 miles) on a relatively busy road between Ingham and Sea Palling. We looked at alternatives and it's difficult as there are many water ways and broads which makes getting a route harder. Also to note that at certain parts of the coast there is erosion which might make it difficult to follow the exact route but as said before following the beach line will work as long as not too high a tide or just further back into the dunes....
Truffle
Walk crosses a couple of fields towards the North Walsham end which were a little muddy in places but otherwise good....

As other reviews have said it's mostly gravel and dry underfoot with some tarmac and a couple of fields to cross. It's really pretty with some ornate old railway bridges and features including an abandoned old station at Honing....
Truffle
This route is excellent for dog walkers as it follows the track of the M&GN (Muddle & Go Nowhere) railway....

I tried walking down what I believed was a route off of the main road but it led to a dead end. After quite some time the walk finally took me back onto the main road where I walked the rest of the way to Stalham....
Amanda Seminerio
Oby to Thurne - The walk heads away from the river and takes you along a couple of country roads before turning off on to some fairly even grass footpaths which end at a short bank down to the road in front of Thurne church....

Nice route, a little on safe rural roads at North Walsham end, then joins the Weavers Way making a lovely off road path the rest of the route....
